St. Thomas and Concordia played to a 0-0 tie over 110 minutes Tuesday afternoon in MIAC men's soccer play at UST's South Field.
The Tommies (9-6-2 overall, 5-3-1 MIAC) have now played five overtime games in their last six outings. They ran their unbeaten string against the Cobbers to eight and are now 14-1-1 at home over the last two seasons.
Cobber goalie Mads Schmidt recorded his seventh consecutive shutout. Schmidt had nine saves including a point-blank deflection to deny Mike Hutton late in the first overtime. Hutton played all 110 minutes and had 10 shots including five on goal.
Concordia had a few overtime chances but couldn't put a shot on goal. UST goalie Carlos Castelan had five saves in his 110-minute shutout.
Carleton has locked up the league title and playoff top seed, but five teams are still chasing three playoff spots.
St. Olaf won Tuesday over Bethel to move into second place with 18 points and one game left against Carleton. UST, Concordia and Gustavus sit in third place with 16 points and one game left. UST finishes the season Saturday at home against St. Mary's; Concordia is home to play St. John's; Gustavus is home to play Augsburg.
Macalester has 15 points and two games left -- Wednesday against St. John's and Saturday against Hamline.
If all five playoff hopefuls happen to win their remaining games, UST would tie for fourth place and win a tiebreaker for the final playoff spot over Gustavus and Concordia. St. Thomas could finish anywhere from second to sixth place.
