Women's Soccer wins 2-1 over Oles; 8th win in row

Ldexie Fisher and Ale Wicka scored goals in a 2:54 span of the second half to power the Tommie women's soccer team (10-2 overall, 6-0 MIAC) to a 2-1 win over St. Olaf (8-4, 4-2) in Saturday's MIAC battle of potential playoff teams.
It was the eighth win in a row for the Tommies, who moved into a share of the conference lead with unbeaten Concordia-Moorhead. Coach Sheila McGill's team extended its MIAC regular-season unbeaten streak to 18.
The game began with temperatures under 30 degrees and a wind chill temp in the high teens, with slush and snow on the grass.
Fisher's goal, assisted by Kirsten Moran at 64:11, broke a scoreless tie. Wicka scored at 67:05, assisted by Fisher, for a 2-0 Tommie lead.
The Oles answered with a goal by Catie Christoffel at 69:52, but was unable to get the tying goal.
UST's Allie Byron was in net all 90 minutes and had two saves.
St. Thomas ended the day 19-1 on the season thus far in MIAC play in soccer, football and volletball.
