No. 6-ranked Volleyball tops Blugolds, 3-0

Kyley Crotty had 14 kills and 23 digs to lead No. 6-ranked St. Thomas to a hard-fought three-set win over visiting UW-Eau Claire in non-conference volleyball Tuesday night at UST's Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies scored the last three points of set one to win 27-25 then added 25-19, 25-22 victories to cap the sweep. UST's Carlie Waibel added 11 kills and 10 digs, Katie McCaffrey had 10 kills and three blocks, Katie Kremer added 25 digs, and Emily Foster had 36 assists and 16 digs.
St. Thomas (15-1) ran its season win streak to 14 and beat the Blugolds for the second time this month in close fashion. UST is 4-1 vs. the Blugolds in the last 13 months with five spirited matches. The Tommies are 11-1 on their home court over the last two seasons.
Emily Haese had 19 assists and 17 digs, and Lindsey Smith had four aces and 20 digs for the Blugolds (10-9), who have five defeats to nationally-ranked teams.
The Tommies are home Friday to face No. 24-ranked Gustavus (7 p.m.).
