Senior Lonnie Robinson won his fourth complete-game decision in 17 days with a four-hitter to lead No. 9-ranked St. Thomas to a 3-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh in NCAA regional baseball play Thursday in Oshkosh, Wis.
The Tommies (34-7), who outhit Oshkosh 10-4, have won 13 in a row and 24 of their last 26. They will play a winners' bracket game Friday at 10 a.m. vs. UW-Whitewater, a 24-3 winner over Carthage. Whitewater beat Oshkosh 6-3 on Wednesday.
The Titans (29-11) were eliminated before the championship game for the first time in 14 regional trips under Coach Tom Lechnir.
UST's Chris Bullis and Tom Wippler had RBI hits in the first inning and Brian Schmitz drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Robinson (8-1) retired the first 17 batters he faced but lost a perfect game in the sixth. He had a shutout through 8 2-3 innings but an RBI double pulled the Titans within two. Robinson struck out four and walked one and beat Oshkosh for the second time this season.
Bullis went 3-for-5 with two doubles, ran his hitting streak to 11 games and raised his season average to .512.
The Tommies had no errors but left nine runners on base. UST has committed just one error in five postseason games, all victories.
St. Thomas starters have allowed just 13 runs over 75 innings in their 13-game winning streak for a 1.56 ERA in that span.
