Second-period surge lifts Women's Hockey

The St. Thomas women's hockey team got goals from four different players and outshot the host Pipers 30-11 in Friday night's 4-0 victory over Hamline at St. Paul's Drake Arena.

Jackie Carroll, Kristine Beese, Becca Reardon and Kara Ledel had goals and Jill Kobow had two assists. Lauren Bradel was in goal for her fifth shutout of the season.

The Tommies (16-4 overall, 10-3 MIAC) moved closer to securing a home playoff game and second-place MIAC finish. They used three second-period goals in a span of 3:36 to pull away from the Pipers (9-9-2, 4-7-2).

The teams play again Saturday (7 p.m.) in Mendota Heights.
