Embree, Katch fuel Women's Hoops win

Senior center Carrie Embree and junior forward Jessica Katch came up big again as the visiting St. Thomas women's basketball team scored an 80-53 win over Augsburg in MIAC play Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis.
Embree had 18 points and nine rebounds. Katch just missed a triple double with 15 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and six steals. Chelsea Wirtz hit three treys for nine points and Sheena Porter-Wrzos had eight points and six assists. UST led 39-27 at halftime and gradually built the lead over 20.
The Tommies (16-6 overall, 15-4 MIAC) remain one game behind first place St. Benedict and one game ahead of third-place Gustavus with three conference games to go. UST, 7-2 thus far in MIAC road games, travels to St. Catherine Saturday (3 p.m.).
