Men's Soccer wins fourth in row, 3-0

Senior Jon Stilwell scored two goals and senior Derek Engler had a goal and an assist to lead the host Tommies (12-3-1 overall, 6-1-1 MIAC) to a 3-0 victory over visiting St. Olaf in MIAC men's soccer play Wednesday at UST's South Field.
UST junior keeper Carlos Castelan had two saves and recorded his eighth shutout of the season for the Tommies, who won their fourth game in a row and moved into second place in the conference race.
UST has outscored teams 7-1 in the second half during their four-game win streak.
St. Olaf (9-6, 4-4) had a three-game win streak halted and lost to the Toms for the third year in a row after winning three in a row over UST from 2003-2005.
St. Thomas went 10-0 at home in the regular season and outscored those 10 opponents by a 26-8 margin. The Toms, ranked 10th in the West Region poll, can secure an MIAC playoff berth with one more point in their last two conference games -- Saturday at St. Mary's, or Nov. 1 at Gustavus.
Engler scored in the 44th minute, assisted by freshman Mike Hutton, for a 1-0 lead. Stillwell scored in the 49th minute, assisted by Taylor Lynch, for a 2-0 lead. Stillwell scored again on an header, assisted by Engler, in the 73rd minute. Hutton has scored a point in four consecutive games.
Alex Kuehl played all 90 minutes in goal and had seven saves for St. Olaf.
St. Thomas' four fall sport teams in football, volleyball and soccer now have a combined record of 51-7-4.
