Women's Basketball posts 23-point win over Carleton

Junior Jessica Katch had 13 points, seven steals, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the host Tommie women's basketball team to a 65-42 victory over first-place Carleton in Saturday's MIAC game at UST's Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies (5-3 overall, 4-1 MIAC), who raced to leads of 19-5 and 27-10, now share the conference lead with Carleton, as Gustavus (3-2) lost at St. Catherine. The Toms' pressure defense contributed to Carleton's 24% shooting (12-of-50) and 24 Knight turnovers.
Chelsea Wirtz had 14 points and Carrie Embree added 11 points for the Tommies, who had a 41-35 rebounding edge.
Amber Connor and Anna Biewen each scored eight points for Carleton (5-3, 4-1). The Knights trailed 32-16 at halftime and never got closer in the second half.
