St. Thomas and Carleton both stayed unbeaten in conference men's soccer play as they battled to a 1-1 tie Tuesday in St. Paul. It was the second year in a row the teams played to a 1-1 deadlock.

UST (5-3-2 overall, 2-0-2 MIAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute as Thomas Gjervold scored (assisted by Joe Voeller). Gjervold has scored four goals in his last three MIAC games.

The Knights (7-1-1, 3-0-1) tied the score in the 63rd minute on Thomas Ashton's unassisted goal off a scramble in front of the net. Carleton is 14-1-1 in its last 16 games dating back to last season.

UST's Dan Hutton (six saves) and Carleton's Pete Semmer (six saves) each played 110:00 in goal.

The Toms return to action next weekend in Iowa as they face 8-1-1 Central Saturday in pella (4:30 p.m.) and Simpson Sunday in Indianola.
