Volleyball wins 3-0; victory streak now at 13

The No. 6-ranked St. Thomas volleyball team hit .252 and ran its winning streak to 13 with Saturday's 3-0 victory over No. 25-ranked Carleton. The host Tommies won 30-24, 30-20, 30-19 and halted the Knights' 10-game win streak.
Junior Katie McCaffrey had 13 kills, hit .393 and added five blocks for St. Thomas (13-2 overall, 3-0 MIAC), which has beaten four nationally-ranked teams in the last nine days. UST is 13-0 in September.
UST senior Katie Zazverskey added 10 kills; freshman Emily Foster had 37 assists; sophomore Kyley Crotty had eight kills and 13 digs; junior Katie Kremer had 19 digs; senior Aly McConnell had three aces; and senior Kristin Storrs had eight kills and two blocks.
Carleton (10-1, 2-1) received 11 kills from Annie Eckhoff and 19 digs from Laura Barsness.
The Tommies resume MIAC play next weekend with two road matches -- Friday at Gustavus (7 p.m.0 and Saturday at St. Catherine (3 p.m.).
