Visiting St. Thomas shot just 26% from the field in Wednesday's 54-35 MIAC women's basketball loss to Gustavus in St. Peter.??
The Tommies (12-10 overall, 11-8 MIAC) had a five-game winning streak halted. They trailed 19-11 at halftime and were still within 39-30 with 6:14 to go before a 12-0 Gustie run blew open the game.??
Gustavus (19-3, 16-3) survived 34% shooting as it rode a 22-point outing by Jess Vadnais. The junior guard made 10-of-10 at the foul line.??
DeJurnett Prioleau had eight points and Jessica Katch and Sheena Porter-Wrzos each scored seven points for the Toms, who outrebounded Gustavus 39-34.??St. Thomas is in a four-team chase for one of two final playoff spots. It's now tied for fifth place with St. Catherine at 11-8, one game ahead of Hamline (10-9) and one game behind Carleton (12-7). St. Thomas meets St. Catherine next Wednesday at home.??
St. Thomas plays Saturday at home vs. Concordia-Moorhead (3 p.m.). The Cobbers (13-5 MIAC) won by three Monday at Gustavus but lost 67-66 at home Wednesday to Bethel.?
