Women's Hoops falls by six to Scots

St. Thomas was outscored 16-2 over the final 5:45 and lost a 74-68 women's basketball decision Wednesday night to Macalester at St. Catherine.
The Tommies (3-2 overall, 2-1 MIAC) shot just 33% from the field and missed their last 11 shots. They led by as many as 11 midway through the second half. The Scots beat UST for just the second time in the last 29 meetings, covering 15 seasons.
For the Tommies, Jessica Katch had 20 points and six steals, Carrie Embree had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Chelsea Wirtz had 11 points.
The Tommies play Saturday at St. Olaf (1 p.m.).
