Men's Hockey unbeaten string hits six

Sophomore goalie Tyler Chestnut stopped 36 of 37 shots and St. Thomas scored a 3-1 win at UW-Eau Claire Tuesday night in non-conference men's hockey play.
The seventh-ranked Tommies (7-1-1) are unbeaten in their last six games. UW-Eau Claire (4-6) has six losses, all by one or two goals.
Todd Alexander's power-play goal 4:25 into the second period gave UST a 1-0 lead. The Blugolds tied it four minutes later, but Tommie senior Nate Ryan scored the go-ahead goal at14:19 of the second. Andrew Panchenko scored an insurance goal midway through the third period. Nick Pernula had two assists.
UST plays Augsburg this weekend -- Friday night on the Auggies' ice, and Saturday night at home ice in Mendota Heights.
