Keating sharp in Toms' win

Senior forward Mike Keating had career highs with 26 points and 13 rebounds and added five assists in just 26 minutes to lead No. 7-ranked St. Thomas to an 87-43 victory over visiting St. Mary's in MIAC men's basketball Wednesday night at UST's Schoenecker Arena.
Senior center Isaac Rosefelt added 16 points and eight rebounds, and senior guard Bryan Schnettler had 19 points, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, for St. Thomas (3-0 overall, 1-0 MIAC).
It was the Tommies' 38th consecutive victory over the Cardinals, dating back to the 1987-1988 season.
UST shot 60% from the field, including 9-of-19 from 3-point range and outrebounded SMU 41-28.
Keating had 10 points during a 25-8 run that built a 31-14 lead with 5:20 left in the first half. UST pushed the margin to 40-23 at halftime, then opened the second half with an 11-2 run.
Michael Rohr, Eric Lear and Terrence Smith each had eight points for the Cardinals (0-3, 0-1).
