Sophomore running back Walter Dosh scored three second-half touchdowns -- of 24, 67 and 38 yards -- to rally St. Thomas (2-3 overall, 2-1 MIAC) to Saturday's 27-9 victory over visiting St. Olaf (1-4, 1-3) in conference football play in the Tommies' Homecoming game in St. Paul.

Dosh, a transfer from South Dakota State, rushed 10 times for 132 yards. He now has six touchdowns in his two career games in O'Shaughnessy Stadium -- all scored in the second half. Dosh had three TDs in the Sept. 20 win over Hamline.

The Oles outgained the Tommies on the day in total offense, 389-327 yards, but were hurt by three second-half turnovers. Tommies Andrew Ubbelohde, Danny Reisenauer and Steve Groth each had second-half interceptions to help UST win at home for the 10th time in its last 12 games.

St. Olaf led just 3-0 at halftime despite controlling the line of scrimmage in the first half. The Oles outgained the Tommies 175 yards to 58 yards in the opening two quarters and held the Tommies to one first down, but couldn't reach the end zone despite four drives inside the UST 25-yard-line.

Dosh kick-started the Tommies in the third quarter. He caught a shovel pass from QB Justin Lockrem and turned it into a 24-yard TD that made it 7-3 with 11:28 to go in the third period. Dosh added a 67-yard scoring run with 3:58 left in the period for a 14-3 lead.

The Oles drove 83 yards on 13 plays, capped by Aaron Stinar's six-yard TD run with 10:56 left in the game, to pull within 14-9. The conversion run try was stopped just short of the goal to keep the Tommies ahead by five.

St. Thomas broke it open with two long TDs in the final 3:30. Soph Billy Schreiber caught a pass near midfield and, sprung by a block by freshman receiver P.J. Theisen, turned it into a 73-yard TD reception for a 21-9 lead with 3:17 to go.

St. Thomas recovered the on-side kickoff on a squib kick that took a favorable bounce. Dosh added a 38-yard scoring run with 2:11 to play.

The Oles rushed for 226 yards, led by freshman Bobby Andrade's 119 yards on 22 carries. QB Brian Senske rushed 15 times for 56 yards and completed 11-of-24 passes for 163 yards with the three picked off. Nate Lund caught four passes for 53 yards.

For the Tommies, Lockrem completed 8-of-24 pass attempts for 141 yards with two TDs with one picked off. Defensively, Groth had nine tackles and four break-ups to go with his interception; Ubbelohde had 15 tackles; Joe Skaja had 13 tackles; and Dane Sievwright blocked a third-quarter field-goal try.
