Pete Kramer graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1944. As a student, Kramer was named to the Midwest All-Star college baseball team and was All-MIAC in 1944. He was a member of the 1946 MIAC champion baseball team, and signed a professional contract with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1946.
