Jake Mauer graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 2001. As a student, Mauer was a two-time All-American and led the Tommies to a national title in 2001, and NCAA runner-up places in 1999 and 2000. He was twice named to the College World Series All-Tournament team (2000, 2001) and was the 2001 MIAC co-Player of the Year, along with being a three-time All-MIAC player. He is the MIAC career hits leader (243), and set the school career records for hits (243), runs (181), and games (187). Mauer hit .391 on his career, and the team went 154-42 in his era (74-15 vs. MIAC). He had only one error in 223 chances in 40 career postseason games. He built a 30-game hitting streak in 2001. Since graduating, Mauer has had an over 10-year pro career in the Minnesota Twins organization as a player and coach.
