Dan Scheff

Dan Scheff is entering his third season in 2023-24 as assistant coach of the St. Thomas women’s cross country team and assistant coach of St. Thomas track and field (distance). He is also the director of operations for both St. Thomas women’s cross country and track and field.

Scheff is in his 20th season of coaching, which includes his time spent as a high school cross country/track & field coach to coaching various collegiate teams across the nation. Prior to coaching at St. Thomas, Scheff spent the past two season at University of Minnesota-Morris as the assistant cross country/track & field coach and recruiting coordinator. Throughout his time at UM-Morris, he coached four conference champions, 10 all-conference athletes, and helped assist the women’s team win of the 2021 UMAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships.

He spent a good portion of his career at UW-Stout, where he recruited 50 student-athletes from 16 states, as well as coached three national champions, two national runners-up, 11 All-Americans, and 15 national-meet qualifiers. He was responsible for coaching eight athletes who each broke school track and field records. Scheff also assisted the head men’s cross country Coach in coaching two NCAA Championship meet qualifying men’s teams.

Scheff was a cross country/track & field student-athlete at St. Cloud State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a minor in coaching. He later continued his education and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Master of Science in Sports Administration. While he was there in Greeley, Colo., he was the volunteer graduate assistant cross country/track & field coach, where he assisted in coaching one all-region cross country athlete.
