Abigail Fouts is in her fourth year of coaching the Tommies. She has coached the long distance women to multiple personal records in her tenure and contributed to four MIAC team titles.

Most recently, Fouts has trained Sara Miller to an all-time best 36:46 in the 10,000 meters and runner-up finish at the MIAC Outdoor Conference meet ranking her 19th in NCAA D-III, Miller also ran a PR in the 5,000 for a time of 17:38, a 23-second improvement. Her points helped St. Thomas secure another team championship.

Seven of her athletes qualified to the 2021 MIAC Outdoor Championship meet, and two athletes earned all-conference honors. In 2020, she coached Martha Hubbell to a NCAA Indoor Track qualifying mile time of 5:04 in 2020 before the meet was cancelled due to COVID. Sara Ness qualified to the NCAA Cross Country Championship in 2019 and returned to run lifetime personal records in the 5,000 (17:58) and the 3,000 (10:18). Fouts coached nine individuals to qualify to the MIAC Indoor Championship, garnering multiple all-conference awards and personal bests. 

Fouts also writes the cross training program for individuals who are experiencing and returning from short-term or long-term injury. 

Before coming to St. Thomas, Fouts coached Linsey Tolkkinen to three NCAA Championship appearances; two in the outdoor 10,000 (2018, 2019) and one in cross country (2018). Fouts also coached the 2019 WIAC Steeplechase champion, Nikki Jurik, to her title and season best.  

Fouts graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Science and got her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2017 in Health and Physical Education.

At UWRF, Fouts competed in cross-country and the long distance track events. She holds the second fastest 6,000 time in school history (21:13) and was the first female in four years to qualify to the NCAA D-III Cross-Country Championships. Fouts was a part of the 2017 UWRF Team of the Year that placed 3rd in the WIAC, 6th in the Midwest Region, and made the nationals rankings for the first time in program history to become the UWRF 2017-18 Team of the Year.

On the track, Fouts graduated with five races on the UWRF All-Time Best lists (1500m, 3K, indoor and outdoor 5K, and 10K) with three all-conference honors in the indoor and outdoor 5K and is the 2017 outdoor WIAC 10K champion. She was named the 2017 UWRF Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
