Tommies set to run 6K at 8:40 p.m. from Moorhead, Minn.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas men's cross country team begins its 2026 season Friday, Sept. 4 as it travels to Moorhead, Minn., to compete at the Dragon Twilight.
The men's 6,000-meter race starts at 8:40 p.m. CT from Nemzek Stadium on the campus of MSU Moorhead.

PREVIEWING 2026/REVIEWING 2025
St. Thomas enters the 2026 season looking to build on a strong 2025 campaign, with the Tommies returning a pair of Summit League postseason honorees in sophomore Casey Poppler and senior Max Westerlund. The duo earned spots on the 2026 Summit League Athletes to Watch list after standout seasons a year ago, with Poppler earning Newcomer of the Championship honors following a 15th-place finish at the League Championships and Westerlund earning second-team All-League recognition after placing 13th. The Tommies were picked to tie for fourth in the 2026 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Tommies made program history in 2025, joining the women's squad as the first St. Thomas Athletics teams to compete in NCAA postseason competition at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Westerlund paced the Tommies in each of the final four meets, helping St. Thomas finish second among 21 teams at the Joe Piane Invitational and ninth among 21 teams at the Bradley Pink Classic. The Tommies also placed at least two runners among the top 62 at the Roy Griak Invitational for the third consecutive season.

The men compete next on Friday, Sept. 18 at the Cyclone Open hosted by Iowa State while the women's 2026 season starts Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Phoenix Open in Green Bay, Wis.
