Men and women slotted fourth in Summit Outdoor Preseason Polls

Koel and Rosner men’s athletes to watch, Pratt and Staub women’s athletes to watch
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Both St. Thomas Track & Field programs were slotted among the top half of the league in the 2026 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Tuesday.
The Tommie women were picked to finish tied for fourth with 29 points, while the men were selected to finish tied for fourth with 15 points.
On the women's side, North Dakota State topped the poll with 49 points and seven first-place votes, followed by South Dakota with 41 points and one first-place vote. North Dakota placed third with 35 points, while St. Thomas and South Dakota State tied for fourth.
In the men's poll, North Dakota State earned the top spot with 36 points and six first-place votes. South Dakota State (29 points) and South Dakota (28 points, one first-place vote) rounded out the top three. St. Thomas tied North Dakota for fourth with 15 points.
Head coach Ashley Lucas enters her fourth season leading the Tommie women's program, while head coach Pete Wareham begins his 33rd season at the helm of the men's team.
Graduate student Chloe Staub (Javelin / Dodge Center, Minn.) and senior Alexis Pratt (Sprints / North St. Paul, Minn.) were named Athletes to Watch for the St. Thomas women. On the men's side, graduate student Jack Rosner (Multis / De Pere, Wis.) and junior Jayson Koel (Sprints / Richfield, Wis.) earned recognition.
Staub placed second in the javelin during the 2025 Summit League Outdoor Championships, earning the silver medal behind teammate and event champion Anna Swanson. Staub's mark during the meet ranks second in program history, sitting less than three meters behind the record. She ranked second in the Summit League and 17th in the Midwest Region in the event and threw over 40 meters in six of eight meets, finishing with three top five finishes last season.
Pratt was part of the 2025 Summit League Outdoor Champion 4x100-meter relay team, setting the program record of 45.17. She earned four points at the championship meet with a fifth-place finish of 11.74 in the 100m dash. Pratt set the program record in the 200m dash with a time of 23.98, which ranked seventh in the Summit League and 30th in the Midwest Region last season. She also ranked seventh in the league and 25th in the Midwest Region in the 100m dash. During the 2026 indoor season, Pratt also set program records in the 200m dash in 24.03 to place fourth at the 2026 Summit League Indoor Championship and as part of the Summit League championship 4x400m relay team (3:41.29).
Rosner looks to defend his 2025 Summit League decathlon title as he also took second in the 400m hurdles in 52.00, the program's second-fastest time that ranked second in the Summit League and 16th in the Midwest Region. He set the program record in the decathlon (7,661) at the Drake Relays, which ranked 6th in the Midwest Region and 20th in the country. Rosner's program record of 14.01 in the 110m hurdles ranked 7th in the league and 21st in the Midwest Region. He also set program top 10 marks in the pole vault (fourth) and javelin (eighth).
Koel earned Summit All-League honors as part of the 4x100m relay that took third at the 2025 Summit League Outdoor Championships with a program record time of 40.52. He totaled 5.5 points at the meet with a pair of seventh place finishes in the 100m and 200m dashes. Koel ranked 10th in the league and 40th in the Midwest Region in the 100m dash, while his 200m dash stands as the fifth fastest in program history and 14th in the Summit League and 45th in the Midwest Region last season. During the 2026 indoor season, Koel earned Summit Indoor All-League honors with a second-place finish in the 200m dash with a program record time of 21.47. He totaled 11 points at the championship with a sixth-place finish in the 60m dash.
