St. Thomas to host Summit League baseball, softball tournaments

ST. PAUL, MINN. – After taking the conference by storm in 2025, the University of St. Thomas will host the 2026 Summit League Baseball and Softball Championships in May. The Tommies, who captured the 2025 regular season titles in both sports, will host the softball championship at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium May 6-9 and the baseball championship at Siebert Field May 20-23, both located at the University of Minnesota. Tickets for both tournaments will be available for purchase later this spring.

Tommie softball
St. Thomas took the Summit League by storm in 2025, winning the conference regular season title for the first time in program history. The Tommies finished the season with an overall record of 33-17 and a 14–4 mark in Summit League play, earning a first-place finish in the conference standings.

With its regular season championship, St. Thomas earned the right to host the 2026 Summit League Softball Championship and was instated as a full Division I member in June 2025. The Tommies return the majority of their lineup from last season, including reigning Summit League Freshman of the Year Ava Kleinfeldt (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills), along with all-conference honorees Ella Cook (Iowa City, Iowa/City), Laken Lienhard (Cresco, Iowa/Crestwood), Kameron Monson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury), Abbi Stierlen (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Avery Wukawitz (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge). Reigning Summit League Coach of the Year Jen Trotter returns for her fifth season at the helm.

Tommie baseball
St. Thomas baseball continued to make headlines in 2025, winning its second consecutive Summit League regular season title. Led by veteran head coach Chris Olean, the Tommies posted a 29-21 overall record and finished conference play at 21–9 to secure the league crown for the second straight season.

While St. Thomas was ineligible to host the conference tournament in 2025 due to reclassification, the Tommies were announced as the hosts of the 2026 Summit League Baseball Championship after being instated as a full Division I member in June 2025. St. Thomas is once again projected to be one of the top teams in the Summit League, returning a strong lineup that includes Matthew Maulik (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville), Zak Endres (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South), Tanner Recchio (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) and Joe Roder (New Prague, Minn./Shakopee).
