DULUTH, Minn. — The University of St. Thomas put together another strong performance against a top-10 team on Saturday. The Tommies lost to Minnesota-Duluth 3-0 at AMSOIL Arena, as goalie Dani Strom (Dayton, Minn. / Maple Grove) turned away all but one shot in the loss. St. Thomas put nine shots on goal in both the second and third periods and won 37 faceoffs but was held scoreless by the Bulldogs defense.

SCORING SUMMARY:
Strom handled Minnesota-Duluth's early looks, making saves on Linnea Natt och Dag and Josie St. Martin before St. Thomas answered with chances from Jenessa Gazdik (Somerset, Wis. / Gentry Academy) and JuliAnna Gazdik (Somerset, Wis. / Gentry Academy) that Marilou Grenier stopped. The Bulldogs put a Renée Lapointe shot off the pipe at 14:33 and later sent a series of attempts toward net, all of which Strom saved. Chloe Boreen (Somerset, Wis. / Hill-Murray), Maddie Brown (Bismarck, N.D. / Andover) and Kenleigh Fischer (Fargo, N.D. / North) also blocked shots during that stretch. St. Thomas generated mid-to-late period shots from Ellie Stewart (Minnetonka, Minn./ Shattuck-St. Mary's), Cailin Mumm (Andover, Minn. / Andover) and Sydney Bryant (Traverse City, Mich. / Skyline), but Grenier kept them out before Strom turned away late attempts from Minnesota-Duluth to leave the first period scoreless.

The Tommies built pressure through the middle of the second period, with Grenier stopping chances from Cara Sajevic (Shoreview, Minn. / Gentry Academy), Maya Engler (Andover, Minn. / Andover), Boreen and others before Stewart hit the pipe at 12:42. The Bulldogs broke through at 13:46 during a delayed penalty with the extra attacker on, as Molly Cole scored to make it 1-0. Ella Boerger (Andover, Minn. / Andover) was called for cross-checking at 18:19, and Strom made four saves during the late Minnesota-Duluth power play before the period ended with St. Thomas trailing 1-0.

The Tommies finished off an early Bulldog power play when Boerger's penalty expired at 19:41, and Strom made saves as the hosts generated the first looks of the third period. St. Thomas pushed back with chances from Fischer, Boreen, JuliAnna Gazdik and Engler before the middle of the third period. After head coach Bethany Brausen called timeout, the Bulldogs scored two empty net goals in the closing minutes of the game to secure the 3-0 victory.
