Senior opposite hitter nabs first career honor after three double-digit kill performances

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Tommie Volleyball senior opposite hitter Tezra Rudzitis pulled in her second award from the opening weekend of the 2025 season after being voted the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

This is the first career weekly award for Rudzitis and the third all-time Summit League weekly honor for the Tommies. The previous two offensive player of the week awards came last season, both by Lauren Galvin.

Through the opening weekend of the 2025 season, Rudzitis was named to the Golden Gopher Invitational All-Tournament Team as the top opposite hitter in the tournament. She averaged 3.58 kills per set on a .305 attack percentage and became one of three Tommies to start a season with three straight double-digit kill performances since joining Division I in 2021 (Lauren Galvin '23, Ellie Gustafson '25). Rudzitis began the weekend with 14 kills against Ball State before adding 11 kills on a .550 attack percentage (0 errors) against Cal Poly. She closed her weekend by tying a career high 18 kills on a .263 attack percentage against No. 11 Minnesota. Rudzitis finished with 45.0 points on the weekend, adding two blocks against the Cardinals and one against the Gophers.

South Dakota's Kamryn Farris was selected as the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week.

St. Thomas (0-3) was unable to grab a win during its tough season-opening tournament in Minneapolis, falling in five sets to Ball State, three sets to Cal Poly and taking one of four sets at No. 11 Minnesota.

The Tommies hit the road Sept. 5-6 for their first of three non-conference tournaments outside of Minnesota. St. Thomas will play Houston Christian, hosts of the Molly Howard-Gerwig Memorial Tournament in Houston, Texas, and Bethune Cookman on Sept. 5 before closing the tournament against Southern Mississippi on Sept. 6.
