Senior middle blocker collects second career honor following all-tournament team performance
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Tommie Volleyball collected its second Summit League Kwik Star Offensive Player of the Week honor as Megan Wetter brought in the award, the league office announced Tuesday. The senior middle blocker earned her second career player of the week honor after being selected to the Bryant Invitational All-Tournament Team during the team's 3-0 weekend.
Wetter earned her first career player of the week award last season on the defensive end following wins at (RV) South Dakota State and Kansas City. It's the second offensive player of the week award for the team, joining senior opposite hitter Tezra Rudzitis from the opening weekend, the fourth offensive award and the seventh overall since 2023.
Wetter was named to the Bryant Invitational All-Tournament Team following a perfect 3-0 weekend with wins over Army (3-1), Bryant (3-0), and Stony Brook (3-1). She led the Tommies with 3.82 kills per set, 4.41 points per set and a .536 attack percentage, totaling at least 12 kills and a .400 attack percentage in each match. Wetter added three service aces and seven blocks through the weekend. She led the team in kills in each match and finished the tournament with 15 kills, 17.0 points and a .625 attack percentage against Stony Brook.
Wetter leads the Summit League and is 19th in the nation hitting .438 (the only player hitting above .400), is eighth with 3.52 points per set and 10th with 2.82 kills per set this season.
South Dakota's Kamryn Farris was selected as the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week.
St. Thomas has won six straight matches, marking its longest winning streak since joining Division I in 2021. The Tommies won their second straight tournament title with three all-tournament team selections in each tournament, including both tournament MVPs. After going 7-29 through the program's first 13 non-conference tournaments of the DI era, the Tommies have now gone 14-3 through the previous six tournaments dating back to Sept. 5, 2024. During that span, St. Thomas has gone a perfect 14-0 through five of those tournaments with the only losses coming at the Golden Gopher Invitational to start this season.
The Tommies close out the 2025 non-conference schedule Sept. 18-19 at the Northwestern Tournament in Evanston, Ill., first taking on the host Northwestern at 7 p.m. on Thursday before playing Campbell at 4 p.m. on Friday.
