SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It was another stellar week for the University of St. Thomas baseball team. The Tommies split their weekend series at Oral Roberts, securing the season series victory for the second consecutive season against the Golden Eagles. Key to the Tommies success was sophomore Marcus Kruzan, who was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon.
This is the second time Kruzan has been named the Summit League's Pitcher of the Week, and he earns the honor after another stellar outing on the mound for St. Thomas. The Highbridge, Wisconsin native dominated in his lone start of the weekend, throwing nine complete innings in an 11-1 victory over Oral Roberts. It was the first complete game pitching performance of Kruzan's collegiate career, as the sophomore surrendered just one run in nine innings of work. Kruzan also became the third pitcher in the DI era to throw a complete game for St. Thomas, joining Kolby Gartner and Jacob Mrosko.
Kruzan and the rest of the Tommies will be back in action on Wednesday, as they host Minnesota at 3:00 p.m. at Koch Diamond.
