Men and women picked fifth in Summit Indoor Track & Field Preseason Poll

Heppner and Rosner men’s athletes to watch, Apple and Keller women’s athletes to watch
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Both St. Thomas Track & Field men's and women's indoor track & field programs were picked to finish fifth in the 2026 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Wednesday.
Women's Head Coach Ashley Lucas begins her fourth season with St. Thomas as her team totaled 25 points. Men's Head Coach Pete Wareham is opening his 33rd season with the program as his team was given 14 points in the poll.
Within the women's poll, North Dakota State was voted to finish first with 47 points and five first-place votes with North Dakota in second with 41 points and two first-place votes. South Dakota State garnered the final first-place vote and tied South Dakota for third with 36 points.
On the men's poll, North Dakota State was also voted to finish first with 35 points and five first-place votes, followed by South Dakota State in second with 32 points and two first-place votes and South Dakota in third with 26 points.
Sophomore sprinter Danika Apple and senior multi-athlete Olivia Keller were named the St. Thomas Women's Athletes to Watch while graduate multi-athlete Jack Rosner and senior mid-distance Cameron Heppner were selected as the St. Thomas Men's Athletes to Watch.
Apple, a native of Green Bay, Wis., totaled eight points at the Summit League Indoor Championships following a fourth place finish in the 60m dash and a sixth place finish in the 200m dash. She broke the program record in the 60m dash in 7.46 with a first place finish and ran the program's second fastest 200m dash of 24.43 to place second at the SDSU Indoor Classic. Apple ran the program's fifth fastest 300m dash of 40.95 at the Mark Schuck Open and Multi. She ranked fourth in the Summit League and 18th in the Midwest Region in the 60m dash and 10th in the Summit League and 34th in the Midwest Region in the 200m dash. Apple totaled five top-three finishes in the 60m dash, including three wins, and four top-three finishes in the 200m dash.
Keller, hailing from Burnsville, Minn., was part of 4x400m relay that took third in 3:43.03, a program record, at the Summit League Indoor Championships, the program's first indoor all-league relay team. She placed fifth in the pentathlon with a score of 3597 at the indoor league championships, setting a personal record 8.81 in the 60m hurdles that ranks third all-time at St. Thomas. Keller set the program record in the pentathlon to start the season with a score of 3751, ranking third in the Summit League and 19th in the Midwest Region this season, winning the event at the M City Classic. She broke the St. Thomas record of 5.90m in the long jump, ranking eighth in the Summit League and 40th in the Midwest Region this season, to finish second at the Mark Schuck Open and Multi and followed a week later to break the program record of 2:10.85 in the 800m run to finish sixth at the Iowa State Classic. Keller ran the program's second fastest 300m dash of 40.34 to take second at the Mark Schuck Open and Multi. She recorded the program's fourth fastest 400m dash of 57.09 to take third at the Cyclone Open. Keller totaled five top-three and eight top-five finishes.
Heppner, from Andover, Minn., earned 3.25 points at the Summit League Championships following a fourth place finish as part of the 4x400m relay and seventh place finish in the 800m run. He was part of 4x400m relay that broke the St. Thomas record in 3:14.70 to place third at the SDSU Indoor Classic and he took fourth in the 800m run in 1:52.31, the fourth fastest time ever at St. Thomas, at the SDSU Indoor Classic. Heppner ranked sixth in the Summit League in the 800m run last season and totaled four top-10 finishes.
Rosner, a native of De Pere, Wis., earned Summit All-League honors with a second-place finish in the heptathlon at the 2025 Summit League Indoor Championships. He totaled 10 points at the league meet in the heptathlon and 60m hurdles (7th), and ranked second in the heptathlon (14th in the Midwest Region), sixth in the 60m hurdles (19th in the Midwest Region), 11th in pole vault (40th in the Midwest Region), 18th in shot put and 20th in long jump in the Summit League last season. Rosner broke the St. Thomas program records in the heptathlon (5312) at the Summit League Championships, 60m hurdles (7.95) at the Snowshoe Open and as part of the 4x400m relay (3:14.70) at the SDSU Indoor Classic and totaled 11 top-10 finishes.
