Men’s Golf selected fifth in Summit League Coaches’ Poll

Owen Rexing named "Player to Watch"
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas Men's Golf team was voted fifth of 11 teams in the preseason Summit League Coaches' Poll, eight votes from the top four. Owen Rexing was named the Tommies' "Athlete to Watch" for the Spring season.
Kansas City, the winners of each of the last two Summit League Championships, were selected to finish fourth, eight votes ahead of the Tommies who placed fifth and tied with North Dakota State at last season's championship. The Bison earned the most overall votes (97) and the most first place votes (8) after a successful fall showing. The newest members of Summit League Men's Golf, Northern Colorado and Weber State were picked to finish 8th and 10th, respectively.
The Toms competed four times last fall with varying results. They took 13th place of 15 teams at the highly competitive Gopher Invitational, took 5th place of 14 teams at the Zach Johnson Invitational, finished on the podium in 2nd place of 8 teams at the Tommie Invitational, and took 4th of 12 teams at the Throw Down Up Top at Landmand.
Owen Rexing was named the Tommies' "Athlete to Watch" with a 72.5 stroke average over 24 rounds last fall. That mark was 10th in the Summit League and second best among Tommies behind only Matthew Armstrong's 71.9.
