SELLERSBURG, Ind. – A phenomenal team performance in the final round of 278 (-10) led to the St. Thomas Men's Golf team sharing fifth place at the Summit League Championship with an overall score of 854 (-10). Owen Rexing's third round 69 (-3) earned him a share of the podium and a spot on the elite All-Tournament Team. Rexing is the first Tommie in program history to do so.

The sophomore's third-round 69 comes on the heels of back-to-back 70's for an overall score of 209 (-7). He finishes as one of six golfers tied for third place. Second-place, Presten Richardson of Oral Roberts shot one stroke better than third, and first place, Mesa Falleur finished with a 205 (-11). Rexing tallied four birdies (three on the front) against one bogey (also on the front) during his final round. He shot one under on the back nine with eight parred holes. He was the most consistent of the Tommies at the championship and was rewarded with the program's first All-Tournament Team honor.

Freshman Gavin Newkirk had the team's low score of the final round with a scorching 68 (-4). He moved up 11 spots into a tie for 17th place with a three-round total of 214 (-2). The Batavia, Illinois native bogeyed the very first hole of the day but played flawless golf the remainder of the front with birdies on five, six, and nine. He continued his hot stretch with two more holes under par (birdies on 14 and 15) before bogeying the 17th and finishing with a birdie on the 18th. He improved by four strokes on his first round and six on his second.

All-Summit League Second-Teamer Matthew Armstrong fell two spots despite shooting under par on day three (71, -1). His final score of 215 (-1) landed him in a tie for 22nd place. The senior got out to a hot start on the front nine with birdies on holes one, five, and nine. His hot hand wore off on the back with bogeys on 11, 16, and 17 but finished just two over par on the final nine with a birdie on 15.

Will Frazier battled back and moved up four spots with his tournament-best score of 70 (-2) to finish at 216 (E), tied for 24th. He shot parallel nines with two birdies and a bogey on both sides of the turn. Matthew Garside also shot his best of the tournament with an even 72 on the final day.

Quoting Coach Rachey
"I am very proud of the team's response today following a tough round yesterday. We were really locked in from the start and stayed in our process. Having all counting scores under par for the round and shooting 10-under as a team was a great way to finish the season. Owen continued his solid play and stepped up all tournament for us. Congratulations goes out to him on the first ever Summit League All-Tournament team award in program history."
