Pankratz, Weeks named Summit Cross Country Academic All-League

Senior duo are fourth and fifth all-time selections between men’s and women’s programs
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Both the St. Thomas men's and women's cross country programs were represented on the 2024 Summit League Cross Country Academic All-League Teams, the league office announced Tuesday. Seniors Ava Pankratz and Tony Weeks were named to the team while holding perfect 4.0 grade-point-averages.
This is the second consecutive selection to the team for Pankratz while Weeks, the 2024 Summit League Scholar of the Championship, made his first career appearance on the team. Pankratz holds both of the women's programs all-time selections while Weeks is one of three all-time for the men's program.
Pankratz, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., was named to the squad with a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. She earned Second Team All-Summit League honors after a 14th-place finish at the 2024 league championships, running the 6,000-meter race in 21:38.1. She set a personal best in the 6K race one week earlier at the Bradley Pink Classic in 21:22.4. Pankratz also set a personal best in the 5K with a 21st-place time of 17:47.3 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. She began the season at the Green Bay Phoenix open and finished sixth in the 6K race.
Weeks, a native of Hudson, wis., eared his first career selection with a 4.0 GPA in mechanical engineering. He set a personal record in the 5K to begin the season at the Oz Memorial, taking 16th in a time of 16:37.5. Weeks placed 40th in the 8K race at the 2024 Summit League Championships in a time of 26:06.7. He set a season best in the 6K with a time of 25:25.3 at the Pink Classic.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information director from the league's institutions that carry cross country, and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and faculty athletic representative (FARs). Each team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
