Senior outside hitter totaled back-to-back 23 kills, reached 1,000 career mark

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Senior Lauren Galvin concluded her four-season career with St. Thomas volleyball as the Summit League's Offensive Co-Peak Performer of the Week, her second career honor, the league office announced Wednesday.

Galvin, from Woodbury, Minn., totaled back-to-back 23 kill matches to help the Tommies to wins over South Dakota and Oral Roberts in St. Paul, Minn. The wins put the team's overall total at 18 and Summit League total at 10, ultimately finishing third in the conference standings. On the weekend, Galvin led St. Thomas with 5.75 kills per set, a .339 hitting percentage, four service aces and 52.5 points.

Galvin needed 23 kills heading into Thursday's match against South Dakota and ended the match with a career high 23 on a .308 hitting percentage. She added three service aces and finished with 27.0 total points. Galvin came back to tie her career high of 23 kills on senior day against Oral Roberts, hitting .380 from the floor with 11 digs to mark her eight double-double of the season.

St. Thomas closed its 2024 season with the win against Oral Roberts and secured third place in the Summit League standings following a South Dakota loss at South Dakota State on Nov. 19. The Tommies' 18 wins is the most for a transitioning team since 2018 while the team is just one of six transitioning to total as many overall wins since 2011.
