Men’s Soccer concludes 2024 season with setback against Omaha

Tommies fall in final contest of regular season

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Men's Soccer team hosted Omaha for its final contest of the 2024 season. After a scoreless first half, Omaha (7-6-3, 2-4-1 Summit) totaled five goals in the final frame to defeat St. Thomas (4-10-2, 1-7-0 Summit) on Saturday afternoon.
 
RECAP
Omaha kicked off the final game of the 2024 season on South Field. In the competitive half, Omaha recorded the lone shot on goal as the teams went into halftime break knotted at 0-0.
 
St. Thomas came out to a quick start in the second frame, launching a shot towards the net less than a minute into the second. However, the Mavericks quickly flipped the script, adding two goals early in the half.
 
Taking control of the game and adding three goals, Omaha defeated the Tommies 5-0 in the final game of the regular season.
 
Gunnar Busch, Faris Colic and Keegan James played all 90 minutes in the final game of the season.
 
Moritz Krenc recorded six saves in Saturday's match, bringing his season total to 91.
 
Nathaniel Moore entered the game with nine minutes to play, adding a save for the Purple in his first appearance of the season.
 
TOMMIE SENIORS
The St. Thomas men's soccer team honored its five seniors on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. 
  • In four seasons with St. Thomas, Faris Colic has played 2905 minutes, totaling 29 points, including 13 goals.
  • Charlie Holton has recorded four goals, two assists and 30 shots on goal in his four-year career with the Tommies
  • Playing in his fourth and final season in purple, Keegan James has posted two goals and two assists in 59 games played.
  • Oliver Bieleveldt has totaled eight points and 2032 minutes on the pitch in 29 games played for St. Thomas.
  • Joining the Tommies for his final season of collegiate soccer, Vitus Voitl has recorded 907 minutes in 12 games played.
