DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team returned to AMSOIL Arena for game two against the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs. On Saturday afternoon, Minnesota Duluth (5-3-0, 4-2-0 WCHA) defeated the Tommies (4-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) in a competitive WCHA match up, 2-0.

RECAP
Minnesota Duluth tallied the first goal of the afternoon midway through the opening frame. Scoring the lone goal of the period, the Bulldogs took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The only three penalties of the contest were assessed in the first period, as St. Thomas successfully defended two Bulldog power plays.

In the scoreless second period, Dani Strom added 14 saves as the Bulldogs held the advantage in shots on goal through 40 minutes.

Starting the third period with a break-away save, Strom kept it a one-goal game early in the final frame. However, UMD doubled its lead with 10:05 to play in regulation.

Down two goals with under three minutes to play, Strom was called to the bench and the Tommies played with an extra attacker. Ringing the puck off the crossbar, Maddy Clough was inches from scoring for the Purple. Unable to capitalize on the 6-on-5, St. Thomas fell to the Bulldogs in the series finale.

The Tommies outshot the Bulldogs 9-7 in the final frame, totaling 19 shots on goal through 60 minutes as Dani Strom tallied career-high 30 saves.

The Duluth native, Ilsa Lindaman made her collegiate debut for the Tommies this weekend. Lindaman recorded four shots on goal and eight wins on the dot through her first two games in Purple.
