Doubles pair earns match win for Tommies
Minneapolis, Minn. – The Tommies continued play at the Gopher Invitational on Saturday, September, 16. One doubles pair and one individual won matches on day two of the tournament.
The Tommies double pair, Naisha Srivastav and Yinong Ma, earned the sole doubles match win of the morning when they defeated the Summit League opponents, Brooke Covington and Keegan VanPelt, of Omaha. Jannah ElNemr and Shrichandrakala Tentu also took on a doubles pair of Summit League competitor from South Dakota, falling in a close match, 7-6(6).
In singles play, Emme Johnson competed against Sreelasya Mylavarapu of Northern Iowa, with both competitors winning a set (3-6, 6-4), but the match ended due to an injury.
Naisha Srivastav competed three sets against Tiana Windbuchler of Marquette, but fell in the afternoon match-up, 3-6/6-4/6-1.
TOP TOMMIES
- Sophomore, Naisha Srivastav, and first year, Yinong Ma, earned the Tommies lone doubles match win of the morning, 6-1.
