ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas women's hockey team is no stranger to big moments and big games. As a member of the Western College Hockey Association (WCHA), the Tommies will once again play one of its opponents on the biggest stage, as they were tabbed to participate in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women's Face-Off Classic. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, November 9 at the Maple Grove Ice Arena in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
"We are excited to be part of the Hall of Fame game and know it is a privilege to be a part of this event as we help grow and promote the game of hockey," stated St. Thomas head coach Joel Johnson. "I have no question that the building will be packed, and it should be a great atmosphere for college hockey. I am confident that the youth teams from the Maple Grove community will bring the energy and excitement, which will raise the intensity for the players and coaches and hopefully make for a great competitive environment."
The annual game looks to raise awareness for the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum in Eveleth, Minnesota and showcases women's college hockey at its highest level. This season, it will feature the Tommies, who are entering their third season in the WCHA, and the Minnesota State University Mavericks, who are making their first appearance in the Face-off Classic since 2019. Additional information, including event details and tickets, will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
