Men's Golf eyes improved finish at Summit meet

St. Paul, Minn. – Tommie Men's Golf is hitting the road for the coveted Summit League Championships, this year set for Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
The tournament will commence on Sunday, April 30 and finish up on Tuesday, May 2. There will be three rounds of 18 holes played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Representing St. Thomas will be junior Matthew Armstrong, junior Will Frazier, senior Matthew Raab, freshman Owen Rexing, and senior Matthew Garside.
Heading into the tournament, the Toms have had three first-place finishes and 13 individual top-10 finishes on the season. Frazier and Armstrong are shooting the same season average at 73.65, followed by Raab (74.4), Garside (74.9) and Rexing (75.1).
In last year's championship, the Purple placed eighth out of 10 teams with a score of 896. The Denver Pioneers walked away with the Summit League title by a mere one stroke over runner-up North Dakota State.
St. Thomas has lowered its team stroke average by three shots per round over the 2021-22 season. The Toms' 294 average ranks fifth best in the conference.
