Twelve home matches part of 2023 St. Thomas Volleyball schedule

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas Volleyball released its 2023 schedule Thursday, which includes 12 home matches and an early non-conference tournament at Schoenecker Arena.
"I'm excited about the challenges our pre-conference schedule will bring, highlighted by our first home tournament as a DI institution," head coach Thanh Pham said. "We will see teams both new and familiar, and I cannot wait to see how our growth continues to improve against our regional competition leading up to Summit League play."
St. Thomas opens its season with four pre-conference tournaments, beginning Aug. 25-26 at the UIC tournament in Chicago against UIC, Lindenwood and Oakland. The Tommies then opens action at Schoenecker Arena Aug. 31-Sept. 2 with a tournament against Montana State, Cal Baptist and Milwaukee.
The Tommies wrap up their non-conference season with a tournament Sept. 8-9 in Chicago and Sept. 14-15 in Green Bay, Wis.
Summit League play begins Sept. 21 at Omaha and Sept. 23 at Denver before returning to St. Paul Sept. 26 to host Oral Roberts. The Purple continue a three-match home stand Sept. 28 against North Dakota and Sept. 30 against North Dakota State.
St. Thomas will face each of the Summit League's nine programs twice, including home matches Oct. 19 against Denver, Oct. 21 against Omaha, Oct. 31 versus Kansas City, Nov. 4 against Western Illinois, Nov. 9 against South Dakota State and Nov. 11 versus South Dakota.
Thanh Pham enters his 21st season leading the program in 2023. The Tommies picked up non-conference wins at 14-win Montana State and 18-win Saint Louis, and swept Western Illinois in Summit League play. Emma Goerger and Tezra Rudzitis return after selections to the 2022 Summit League All-Freshman Team. Lauren Galvin, a 2021 Summit League All-Freshman Team selection, returns for her junior season after leading the squad in kills and service aces, and totaled seven double-doubles in 2022.
