Esch earns first career Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Sophomore Evan Esch was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday.
The Woodbury, Minn., native set up St. Thomas Baseball's 2-1, walk-off win Saturday against North Dakota State. Esch threw a season-long 6.0 innings with no runs allowed during his fourth start of the season. He finished with five strikeouts, tying a season high, and allowed just two hits and two walks.
The weekly award is the first of Esch's career, who has made eight appearances on the mound in 2023 and made 14 appearances with eight starts as a freshman. It also marks the first weekly honor by a Tommie this season. St. Thomas earned four award winners last season, including two pitcher and two performers of the week.
The Tommies return to action Wednesday, April 19 with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Minnesota before resuming the Summit League schedule April 21-23 with a three-game series at South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D.
