Glynn shines, but Women's Basketball takes season-ending loss
3/4/2023 3:39:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Despite a career-best game for Tommie senior guard Jordyn Glynn, top-seed South Dakota State broke open Saturday's battle in the quarterfinal round of the Summit League women's basketball tournament.
The Jackrabbits used a game-closing 45-25 run in the final two quarters to pull away from No. 8-seed St. Thomas in Saturday's 87-59 win.
Glynn posted a career-best 18 points and a season-best 10 rebounds in the season-ending loss. She converted all seven shots from the floor including both 3-point tries.
The Tommies (13-17) led 18-14 after one quarter, and trailed 40-29 at halftime. They pulled within eight points early in the third quarter, but the Jackrabbits (26-5) shot 71 percent from the floor in the final quarter (12-of-17) and gradually took full control to advance to the semifinal round.
SDSU had only eight turnovers and used a 32-8 advantage in bench scoring to help pull away.
Sophomore post Jo Langbehn added 16 points and sophomore guard Jade Hill chipped in seven points, four assists and four boards for the Purple.
Coach Ruth Sunn had 11 of her 14 players in their first or second year of eligibility. Her team still won five of their last seven games to cap another season of progress in the D-I era.
