Sioux Falls, S.D. -- St. Thomas Women's Basketball senior Maggie Negaard's standout season was rewarded with a selection to the 2022-23 All-Summit League Second Team, the league office announced Thursday.

Negaard becomes the first Tommie in the program's NCAA Division I era to earn a spot on the all-league first-, second-, or honorable mention team. Negaard is concluding her second and final season with the Purple as the team's lone member to start all 28 games in 2022-23.

The All-Summit League Teams and individual awards were voted on by the league's head coaches, athletic communication directors, and select media members.

Negaard, a Stevens Point, Wis., native, ranks 11th in the Summit League with 12.8 points per game and is fourth sinking 2.3 3-point field goals per game. She's shooting 43.3 percent from 3-point range, which ranks 14th in the country, and is among the top 14 in the league with 2.4 assists per game and 30.6 minutes per game.

During the DI era, no other Tommie has recorded more 20-point games in a season than Negaard's five, including two over the last three games. She's topped double figure scoring in 19 games this season, including career highs of 28 points, nine rebounds and six 3-pointers Jan. 21 versus Western Illinois. Negaard sank at least three 3-point field goals in 13 games, including six games with at least four. She is shooting 89.2 percent from the free throw line and made 12-of-12 from the charity stripe during the regular season finale win over North Dakota.

Myah Selland of South Dakota State was named the Summit League Player of the Year while her teammate Kallie Theisen was selected Six Woman of the Year and Head Coach Aaron Johnston was voted the Coach of the Year. Makayla Minett of Denver was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year, Elle Evans of North Dakota State was chosen as the Freshman of the Year, and E'Lease Stafford earned Newcomer of the Year.

St. Thomas begins the 2023 Summit League Championships at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 3 against Western Illinois. The eight-seed Tommies and nine-seed Leathernecks will meet for the third time this season at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
