St. Paul, Minn. – Katie Goelz was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Performer of the Week for her performances over the Tommies' five-game weekend schedule.
"Katie has been exciting to watch," coach Jen Bagley-Trotter said of Goelz. "The power of her swing is matched by her quickness on the bases. I'm thrilled she is being recognized by this honor."
Goelz made five starts for the Tommies at first base, going 8-for-18 (.444) with two home runs, six RBI, five runs and one double along four stolen bases. Goelz got her weekend started by going 2-for-3 with a double against Bowling Green. In St. Thomas' two wins against Purdue Fort Wayne, Goelz hit a home run in each game. The Maple Grove, Minn., native also played a strong first base where she converted 40 putouts over five games. In total, Goelz registered an .833 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage.
This is the first time that a Tommie has won this award this season, and the first time Goelz has been given this honor.
Up Next
The Tommies have the weekend off. Their next action is the weekend of March 10th when they head across the river to compete in the U.S. Bank Stadium Invite for five games against Central Michigan, Idaho State, Drake, and Minnesota.
