Tommies score two in the second half in attempt to come back from a three-goal deficit

MACOMB, Ill. – The Tommies found themselves down 3-0 at half, but scored two second half goals in an attempt to come back from the three-goal deficit.
 
Offensively, the Tommies launched ten shots and put four on goal, with three put on net during the second half. The Tommie defense kept Western Illinois from getting a shot on net during the second half.
 
RECAP
Western Illinois started the game off hot in the first half, scoring three goals within 14 minutes of play. The Tommies had only one chance to score in the first half, only putting one shot on goal. The Leathernecks used their momentum to put five shots on goal during the firsts 45 minutes of the match.
 
The Tommie made a push in the second half, both offensively and defensively. The Tommies got on the board in the 62nd minute from an own goal by the Leathernecks.  In the 61st minute, Charlie Holton had a very strong chance on a breakaway but was denied by the Western Illinois goalkeeper. Soon after, Holton capitalized on his next another opportunity, and with 10 minutes left to play to made it a one goal game.
 
The Western Illinois defense found a way to hold off the Tommies, and ultimately won the game 3-2. The Tommies finished the game with ten shots and four on goal, whereas the Leathernecks had ten shots and 5 on goal.
 
TOP TOMMIES
· Junior, Charlie Holton scored the second goal for the Tommies, earning his first of the season.
· Grad Student, Isaac Eckroth played all 90 minutes in the 3-2 loss. He is the only Tommie to have played in nine full games. Eckroth leads the team in minutes with 810 minutes played.

Thoughts from head coach Jon Lowery after the 3-2 road loss:
 
"We put ourselves in a deep hole and credit to Western for taking their chances really well.  We adjusted took the game over in the second half and left it all there but ran out of time."
