Fargo, N.D. - St. Thomas softball (14-36, 8-13 Summit League) ended the season with a 2-1 victory at North Dakota State (28-21, 10-8 Summit League) on Saturday.
The two squads traded scoreless frames until the top of the fourth, when the Tommies would score all of their runs in the game. Sarah Hudson and Megan Baniecke tallied back-to-back one-out base hits, and Christina Crawford followed with a walk, to load the bases for Katie Goelz. Goelz lined a single to left field to drive in Hudson and plate the first run of the contest. Grace Bennett followed with a ball to the Bison third baseman, who booted it, giving St. Thomas another run.
Christina Crawford was lights out in earning her eighth win of the season, and through six innings, allowed no earned runs, two hits, and struck out four. The lone Bison score came in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs. With the four strikeouts, Crawford reached the 100-strikeout plateau for the season.
St. Thomas outhit North Dakota State, 7-3, in the victory. The No. 2-6 hitters in the lineup for the Purple all registered a hit, and Hudson and Baniecke each scored a run. Goelz led the team with two hits on the day as well as the lone RBI.
Although the Tommies are ineligible from competing in the Summit League's postseason tournament, the team finished ahead of both Western Illinois and North Dakota in the conference standings.
