4/26/2021 12:44:00 PM | Women's Tennis
Freshman Jannah ElNemr on Monday was selected as MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
A native of 6 of October City, Egypt, ElNemr went 2-1 in doubles and 3-0 in singles this week as the Tommies topped St. Olaf (7-2), Hamline (8-1) and previously unbeaten Gustavus (5-4) and claimed just the program's third MIAC championship in 39 seasons, and first solo crown in 30 seasons. This marked just the third time a team other than Gistavus or Carleton won a solo MIAC championship.
In the close GAC match, ElNemr joined freshman Nicole Snezhko to win 8-4 at first doubles and won 6-3, 6-0 at third singles to move to 11-0 this season against D-III singles opponents. She's also 9-2 in doubles against D-III foes.
The Toms are ranked sixth in the region and will be the top seed for next week's MIAC Playoffs.
