Men's Hoops sinks 18 treys, wins eighth in row

2/8/2020 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

Senior Elijah Hannah scored 18 points in 16 minutes off the bench and No. 4-ranked St. Thomas Men's Basketball outscored Concordia-Moorhead 54-9 from 3-point range in Saturday afternoon's 97-58 Tommie victory at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (19-2 overall, 15-1 MIAC) pushed their win streak to eight and opened up a four-game cushion over third-place teams Augsburg and Bethel (each 11-5 MIAC). The Toms can secure a first-round playoff bye with one win or one Bethel loss over the last five conference games. St. Thomas plays Wednesday at Bethel and next Saturday at No. 2-ranked and first-place St. John's.

Bryden Urie led the Cobbers with 19 points, 11 boards and four assists.

The Toms, who raced to a 40-10 first-half lead, shot 55 percent from the floor and made 18-of-36 shot behind the arc. All 18 Tommie players saw minutes, and 16 of them scored points. Ryan Lindberg sank four treys and scored 14 points, and Kevin Cunningham scored 11 points and dished three assists.
