Men's Hockey jams to 38 special, caps weekend sweep

Brett Gravelle's third-period goal proved to be the game-winner as Tommie Men's Hockey capped a weekend series sweep of Augsburg with Saturday night's 5-4 victory in Mendota Heights.
In the process, Coach Jeff Boeser's Tommies locked up the program's 38th consecutive winning season.
St. Thomas (12-10-3 overall, 9-6-1 MIAC), which never trailed, secured the program's 35th consecutive MIAC playoff berth with Friday's 5-3 road defeat of the Auggies, who started the weekend in first place.
Five different Tommie players scored the five goals in Saturday's win. Broydon Stufko, Jack Christensen, Johnny Panvica and Frankie Spellman tallied the team's first four goals.In the weekend sweep, eight different Toms scored the team's 10 goals.
Cam Burggrabe stopped 25 of 29 shots in net.
The Toms will be play host to Gustavus Thursday night in the MIAC playoff matchup of No. 4-5 seeds.The contest starts at 7:30 p.m. in Mendots Heights.
St. Thomas improved to 37-2-4 over the last three seasons in games when it scores three or more goals.
