1/15/2020 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

Sophomore guard Riley Miller sank five 3-pointers and closed with a career-high 22 points to lead No. 9-ranked Tommie Men's Basketball to Wednesday night's 77-64 conference victory at Carleton.

St. Thomas (12-2 overall, 8-1 MIAC) has won 17 of its last 19 road games dating back to November 2018.

The Toms used a 25-0 advantage in bench points and sank 13 shots behind the arc en route to Wednesday's victory.

The Toms raced to a 10-0 lead and went into halftime ahead 45-28. The Knights pulled within 61-51 with 9:40 to go, but St. Thomas freshman Will Engels hit a 3-pointer and a basket, and Miller and Burt Hedstrom each sank a trey to lead an 11-0 Tommie run that pushed the lead to 72-51,

Hedstrom matched his career high with 16 points, and the junior added a career-best nine rebounds.

Sophomore guard Anders Nelson played just 17 minutes due to foul trouble and fouled out with seven points. Senior Elijah Hannah chipped in seven points, five boards, two assists and two steals off the bench.

Isaac Tessier scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Knights, who had a two-game win streak snapped.

St. Thomas plays at St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon.
