Women's Soccer storms past Carthage, gets weekend split

No. 7-ranked Tommie Women's Soccer received points from eight different players and topped Carthage 5-1 in Sunday's non-conference game in Oshkosh, Wis.
Kaley Roberts scored the first goal in the 13th minute and added a late assist. Maddie Bomsta (27th minute), Mari Ferrer-Lugo (43rd minute), Callie Haertle (81st minute) and Ellie Eskierka (89th minute) also recorded goals for St. Thomas.
Tessa Trettel, Kate Heimer and Paige Cater contributed assists.
Sarah Pasternak was in goal and had two saves.
St. Thomas (5-1) plays Wednesday night at Augsburg.

No. 8-ranked Tommie Women's Soccer never led and dropped a 2-1 decision to Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday night in Oshkosh, Wis.
St. Thomas (4-1) closes its trip with a Sunday afternoon game against Carthage. Host UW-Oshkosh and Carthage tied 1-1 on Saturday.
The Tommies scored an own goal in the 69th minute to tie the score at 1-1. But the Titans recorded what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 79th minute.
Olivia Elvidge had five saves in goal for the Purple.
