Volleyball opens MIAC slate with road win at St. Olaf

No. 18-ranked Tommie Volleyball broke open a tight match and claimed a 3-1 victory at St. Olaf Wednesday night in Northfield.
It was the conference opener for both teams, the Oles (11-2) took just their second defeat of the season.
The Toms (11-2 overall, 1-0 MIAC) lost the first set, 25-20, then won the second set by the same score. In set three, the Purple trailed 15-10 and 23-22 but scored the last three points to take a 2-1 set lead and turn the momentum. They broke open a close fourth set to close out the victory, 25-15.
Fran Egan has 12 kills and three block assists; Hannah Braun had 10 kills and two blocks; Grace Anetipa had 39 assists; Madie Kroehler had eight kills and 11 digs; Kate Achenbach had nine kills; Ellie Meyer had 20 digs, while Meghan Mazzola had 15 digs.
St. Thomas plays three matches in Stevens Point, Wis., next Friday and Saturday against the host Pointers, UW-Oshkosh and Millikin.
