Maddie Hasson scored 25 points and No. 3-ranked Bowdoin (Maine) used a 20-4 game-closing run to top St. Thomas, 71-60, in Friday's Division III women's basketball national tournament semifinals game in Salem, Va.

The Polar Bears (31-1) play No. 1-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) in Saturday's championship game. They had only 10 turnovers and outrebounded the Toms 37-29.

The Tommies (30-2) ended their season with a strong second-half comeback before hitting a wall offensively in the final minutes.

Coach Ruth Sinn's team had used a 16-0 second-half run to build a 56-51 lead. Lucia Renikoff sank her fourth 3-point basket of the night to cap the long scoring run.

After a Bowdoin basket, Kaia Porter's made jumper put the Toms up 56-51 with 6:18 remaining. But that was the last field goal the Tommies converted on the game as their final seven tries from the floor were off the mark.

Hannah Spaulding led St. Thomas with 17 points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes of play Renikoff scored 12 points and Porter added 11. Senior point guard Kaylie Brazil played all 40 minutes and had only one turnover with seven points and seven rebounds.

The Tommies seniors finished 114-10 on their career.
